Mumbai, Apr 25: The indefinite strike by Maharashtra government employees has been called off after a crucial meeting with Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis, bringing relief to public services across the state.

The decision to withdraw the agitation was taken after detailed discussions between representatives of various government employee unions and the state leadership. The strike, which had disrupted administrative work and essential public services, was called to press for long-pending demands, including revisions in pay structures, pension-related issues and service conditions.

During the meeting, Fadnavis assured the employee representatives that the government was committed to addressing their concerns in a time-bound manner. He is said to have directed officials to initiate steps to resolve key issues through dialogue and administrative measures.

Sources indicated that the government agreed to set up a mechanism to review the demands and hold further consultations with union leaders. Following these assurances, employee unions announced the immediate withdrawal of the strike.

Union leaders said the decision was taken in view of the positive response from the Chief Minister and in the interest of the public, as prolonged disruption would have affected citizens.

The strike had impacted operations in several departments, including revenue, transport, and local administrative offices, causing inconvenience to people across Maharashtra.

With the strike now called off, normal functioning of government offices and services is expected to resume immediately.
