Mangaluru: Water level at Thumbe dam drops to 4 meters

Daijiworld Media Network – Mangaluru

Mangaluru, May 3: The water level at the Thumbe vented dam, which supplies drinking water to the city, is depleting steadily due to the absence of pre-monsoon showers and the intensifying summer heat. As of May 2, the water level in the dam stood at 4 meters.

In response to the dwindling storage, the Mangaluru City Corporation (MCC) has decided to implement water rationing starting May 4. Under this plan, water will be supplied to the city on alternate days.

The MCC has already submitted a request to the district administration to release water from the AMR dam to Thumbe to manage the crisis, and the release is expected shortly.

On May 2, MLA D Vedavyas Kamath visited the Thumbe dam to inspect the current water levels and oversee the situation.
