Mumbai, May 13: Mumbai is expected to witness mainly clear skies on Wednesday, with the India Meteorological Department (IMD) forecasting a maximum temperature of around 35 degrees Celsius and a minimum temperature of 26 degrees Celsius.
According to the Central Pollution Control Board’s Sameer App, the city’s air quality remained in the “Satisfactory” category with an overall Air Quality Index (AQI) of 60. Air quality in this range may cause minor breathing discomfort to sensitive individuals.

Among major locations in Mumbai, Deonar recorded the highest AQI at 99, followed by Bandra Kurla Complex at 72 and Andheri East at 71. Borivali East reported an AQI of 68, while Chembur stood at 62. Colaba and Byculla recorded comparatively better air quality levels at 54 each.
In the Mumbai Metropolitan Region (MMR), Thane recorded an AQI of 96, Kalyan 92, and Navi Mumbai 74, all remaining within the “Satisfactory” category.
Meanwhile, several parts of Maharashtra continued to experience severe heatwave-like conditions, with temperatures crossing 40 degrees Celsius in many districts.
Jalgaon emerged as the hottest location in the state, recording a scorching 45.5 degrees Celsius, which was 3.7 degrees above normal.
Beed followed with 44 degrees Celsius, while Malegaon recorded 43.8 degrees Celsius. Aurangabad registered 43.6 degrees Celsius, Ahmednagar 43 degrees Celsius, and Parbhani 43.1 degrees Celsius.
Nashik recorded 41.2 degrees Celsius, Satara 41.7 degrees Celsius, Solapur 41.8 degrees Celsius, and Udgir 41 degrees Celsius.
Compared to interior Maharashtra, temperatures in Mumbai remained relatively moderate. The Colaba observatory recorded a maximum temperature of 34.8 degrees Celsius, while Santacruz logged 34.4 degrees Celsius.
However, humidity levels remained high across the city. Colaba recorded 84 per cent relative humidity at 8.30 am, while Santacruz reported 76 per cent.
Other coastal areas of Maharashtra also experienced humid conditions, with Ratnagiri recording 89 per cent humidity, Dahanu 80 per cent, and Harnai 75 per cent.
Night temperatures across several districts in Marathwada and central Maharashtra also remained above normal. Parbhani recorded a minimum temperature of 29.8 degrees Celsius, Beed 29.5 degrees Celsius, and Jalgaon 29 degrees Celsius.
The IMD said above-normal temperatures are likely to persist across many parts of Maharashtra, with several districts continuing to face intense summer conditions.
