Mangaluru: Milagres Parish welcomes new parish priest

Mangaluru, May 19: Milagres parish warmly welcomed its new parish priest, Fr Ivan Michael Rodrigues, on Monday, May 19. Fr Ivan Michael Rodrigues arrived from Vittal to take charge of the parish.

The reception was attended by Fr Valerian D’Souza, who represented the bishop, along with 14 priests, sisters from all the parish convents, and a large number of faithful.

The programme began with a prayerful expression of gratitude and good wishes to the outgoing parish priest, Fr Bonaventure Nazareth, for his dedicated service to the parish.

Dixsun D’Souza, vice president of the Parish Pastoral Council, introduced the parish church and its institutions. Fr Michael Lobo, parish priest of Vittal, introduced Fr Ivan Michael Rodrigues to the parish community.

In his address, Fr Valerian D’Souza thanked Fr Bonaventure Nazareth for his devoted ministry and wished God’s blessings upon Fr Ivan Michael Rodrigues as he begins his pastoral service at Milagres Church.

Fr Bonaventure Nazareth welcomed Fr Ivan Michael Rodrigues and assured him of the support and cooperation of the parishioners.

In his response, Fr Ivan Michael Rodrigues thanked the parishioners of Vittal for their love and support during his six years of ministry there. He expressed his hope of receiving the same affection, prayers, and cooperation from the faithful of Milagres.

The welcome programme was compered by Fr Avith Pais. The ceremony concluded with a prayerful invocation of God’s blessings upon the new parish priest as he begins his ministry at Milagres Parish.
