Mangaluru/Udupi, May 26: The meteorological department has forecast good rainfall in the coastal belt, including the undivided Dakshina Kannada district, over the next few days.

According to the forecast, several places along the coast are likely to receive moderate rain accompanied by thunder and lightning on May 27. On May 28, rain is expected only in isolated areas, while thunder showers are likely in both districts on May 29.

The region has been witnessing continuous moderate rainfall over the past few days, helping ease the summer water shortage in both districts.

The department has advised fishermen to remain highly cautious as strong winds are likely along with rain, thunder and lightning. Fishermen have been directed to strictly follow weather alerts and precautionary measures issued by the authorities.

The coastal region experienced a mix of cloudy and sunny weather on Monday. In Dakshina Kannada district, sunny conditions prevailed in Mangaluru, Puttur, Ullal, Bantwal and Sullia areas. The weather remained warm from the morning itself, while some parts of Sullia and Beltangady witnessed cloudy and sunny conditions.

Udupi district too experienced a similar mix of clouds and sunshine.

Mangaluru recorded a maximum temperature of 32.1 degrees Celsius and a minimum of 24.1 degrees Celsius on Monday.
