Mangaluru, May 27: The fourth national convention of Bethany Educational Society (R), held from May 23 to 25 at Msgr Raymond Auditorium, St Theresa’s School, Bendur, was organized under the inspiring theme ‘Reimagining and Restructuring Bethany Education'. The theme invited educators to reflect on renewing and reshaping Bethany Education to meet the demands of an evolving world while remaining deeply rooted in its mission and values. The convention served as a significant platform for reflection, innovation, collaboration, and strategic planning aimed at strengthening the future of Bethany Education across the globe.

The management, dignitaries, and Bethany sister educators assembled together in a spirit of unity and commitment to the educational mission of Bethany.

The convention was presided over by Sr Rose Celine BS, president of Bethany Educational Society, while Fr Praveen Martis SJ, vice chancellor of St Aloysius Deemed to be University, graced the occasion as the chief guest. Fr Walter D'Souza, parish priest of St Sebastian Church, Bendur, was the guest of honour. Sr Shanthi Priya BS, vice president of BES, and Sr Sandhya BS, secretary of BES, were the other dignitaries present on the dais.

The inauguration was creatively and meaningfully conducted through a symbolic presentation where seven sisters representing various educational portfolios assembled and placed blocks carrying the words vision, innovation, inclusion, values, leadership, technology, and excellence on a specially designed framework. These seven pillars represented the foundation of reimagining and restructuring Bethany Education, reflecting the path towards holistic educational transformation and excellence. The ceremonial lighting of the sacred lamp by the dignitaries invoked God’s blessings upon the convention and symbolized the light of wisdom, knowledge, and hope.

The chief guest, Fr Praveen Martis SJ, in his inspiring keynote address, shared visionary insights on education and emphasized the need to adapt to changing times while preserving human values and the dignity of every learner. In her opening presidential address, Sr Rose Celine BS reflected on the mission and vision of Bethany Education and inspired the gathering to continue shaping educational institutions that nurture not only academic excellence but also values, leadership, and service. She emphasized the importance of responding creatively and courageously to the emerging needs of society while remaining faithful to the Bethany charism.

The convention was enriched by insightful and reflective sessions conducted by eminent resource persons from LIBA (Loyola Institute of Business Administration), Chennai — Fr Dr Joe Arun SJ, Dr Sunil Vakayil, Dr Kishore Kunal, and Dr Mary Auxilia. Through their sessions spread over three days, they guided the participants in strategic thinking, planning, and restructuring Bethany Education in a systematic manner.

The sessions helped participants understand and identify the USP (Unique Selling Proposition) of Bethany institutions and recognize their distinctive strengths and values. Special emphasis was also laid on integrating technology and Artificial Intelligence (AI) into educational practices so that learning remains meaningful, innovative, and relevant for future generations.

All eight provinces actively participated in group discussions and planning sessions. Each province prepared specific strategies, goals, and action plans and selected one institution as a pilot project for implementing the proposed initiatives and restructuring process.

The convention came to a meaningful conclusion with a deeply prayerful hour where each province symbolically offered its commitment, aspirations, and vision before the Almighty. This sacred moment reflected gratitude, faith, and dedication, reaffirming the collective responsibility of carrying forward the mission of Bethany Education with renewed purpose and zeal.

In her concluding presidential address, Sr Rose Celine BS called upon all educators to move forward with renewed zeal and commitment, striving to form individuals who are compassionate and competent, collaborative and creative, caring for creation, and clear in conscience. She encouraged everyone to continue the Bethany educational mission with faith, dedication, and a shared vision for transforming lives and society.

The Fourth National Convention 2026 concluded as a significant milestone in the journey of Bethany Educational Society, reaffirming its commitment to excellence, innovation, values, and compassionate service while envisioning a future where Bethany Education continues to inspire and transform lives across the world.
