Patna, May 29: Determination, hard work and unwavering support from his parents helped Vivek Garg achieve success in the UPSC examination, securing an impressive All India Rank of 114 in his third attempt. He is an alumnus of IIT Patna, having graduated with a BTech in chemical engineering in 2021. Vivek was allotted to the IPS cadre.

Sharing his journey, Vivek said he had become deeply disappointed after failing to clear the examination in his first two attempts despite putting in relentless effort. However, his parents constantly motivated him and encouraged him not to give up, inspiring him to appear for the examination once again.

He said he continued his preparation by studying regularly for 12 to 14 hours a day, and his dedication finally paid off in the third attempt when he achieved the success he had dreamt of.

Vivek revealed that during the Covid period, he had set a clear goal of cracking the UPSC examination and had completely distanced himself from social media for the last four years to stay focused on his preparation.

He also credited his group of six close classmates for playing a major role in his journey. According to him, they constantly motivated one another to move forward and provided guidance and encouragement whenever needed. His father Ajay Garg and mother Deepa Garg recalled that Vivek had become very disheartened after failing twice, but they never allowed him to lose confidence and kept motivating him to attempt the examination again.

Speaking about the key to success, Vivek said students preparing for UPSC and other competitive examinations must develop strong willpower and determination, along with sincere dedication and hard work. He noted that the preparation process is extremely long and demanding, making it difficult to succeed without mental strength and perseverance.
