Mumbai, May 29: A woman vegetable vendor and a child lost their lives after a 74-year-old man allegedly lost control of his SUV and rammed into a roadside vegetable stall in Mulund West on Thursday night, police said.
The accident occurred on ACC Road in Tambe Nagar when the elderly driver was reportedly taking his Kia Seltos out of a residential housing society.

According to police, the vehicle suddenly veered towards a vegetable stall located outside the society gate, knocking down people standing nearby.
One of the victims, identified as Jyoti Shah, sustained serious injuries in the crash and was rushed to a nearby hospital, where doctors declared her dead.
Police said another woman standing near the stall was carrying a child in her arms when the SUV hit them. During the impact, the child reportedly fell and suffered a severe head injury.
The child was admitted to hospital and kept under medical observation but later succumbed to injuries, taking the death toll in the incident to two.
The injured woman is currently undergoing treatment, officials said.
Deputy Commissioner of Police Abhaysingh Deshmukh (Zone VII) stated that a case has been registered and an investigation is in progress.
Preliminary findings suggest that the driver may have lost control of the vehicle while exiting the society premises, leading to the crash.
“The accused immediately shifted the injured woman to a hospital after the accident. He was subsequently taken into custody and further legal action is underway,” the DCP said.
