Sanjay Raut questions focus on ‘Operation Two’, seeks action on PoK

Mumbai, May 31: Shiv Sena (UBT) leader and Rajya Sabha MP Sanjay Raut on Sunday questioned discussions around a proposed “Operation Two”, saying the government should first complete its objectives under “Operation One” by addressing issues related to terrorism and Pakistan-occupied Kashmir (PoK).

Speaking to reporters in Mumbai, Raut said the country must remain focused on eliminating terrorism before moving on to any new military objectives.

“It is good that we are prepared for Operation Sindoor. But as far as I know, Operation One has not yet ended. Until terrorism is completely eradicated, Operation One cannot be considered complete. The Centre should first take action regarding PoK. Nothing has happened on that front yet, while military leaders are already talking about Operation Two. Are elections due somewhere in the country?” he asked.

Raut also commented on the ongoing Maratha reservation issue and activist Manoj Jarange.

“I know very little about Manoj Jarange Patil. This is a technical issue and can only be resolved through discussions between the government and Jarange Patil. Others should avoid intervening in the matter,” he said.

The Shiv Sena (UBT) leader strongly condemned the recent attack on Trinamool Congress MP Abhishek Banerjee in West Bengal.

“Abhishek Banerjee has been elected to Parliament multiple times. The attack on him and on West Bengal's pride, Mamata Banerjee, is highly condemnable. What we witnessed was a deliberate and orchestrated attack. If such politics is used to suppress opposition voices, we are fully prepared to fight back,” Raut said.

Responding to questions regarding allegations involving Maharashtra minister Sanjay Rathod and his convoy, Raut urged authorities to take strict action against anyone violating traffic or security rules.

“If ministers' convoys are violating regulations, action should be taken and an example should be set. On one hand, Amruta Fadnavis is seen cycling like an ordinary citizen, while on the other hand such convoy culture continues. This is not appropriate,” he remarked.

When asked about a controversy involving NCP leader Prajakt Tanpure, Raut dismissed the issue, saying he did not wish to comment further.

“I offer my political condolences to such leaders who frequently change their positions. I do not wish to speak about them again or waste my time on the matter,” he said.
