Media Release

Mangaluru, Jun 14: In a meaningful blend of environmental conservation and social joy, SUEZ Projects Pvt Ltd joined hands with Harmony Vibes, a prominent local musical club, to observe World Environment Day at the Olavina Halli Ashram. The initiative was organized under the leadership of Rakesh Shetty B S, administration manager at SUEZ Projects.

The event was graced by several distinguished guests, including Dr Anantha Prabhu G, Sheik Salim, Sathish Ira, and Lolitha. Representing SUEZ Projects were Sanoop (manager of Health & Safety), Sandesh Alape, Selvan, and Swathi Sharath. The Harmony Vibes delegation included Gopalakrishna Kunder, Babu M George, Ashok Kumar, Vivek Aman, Ravindra Suvarna, Sapna, Kshama, Lolitha, and Dheemathi.

The day commenced with the volunteers visiting the residents in their quarters, followed by an enthusiastic tree-planting drive. With great joy and vigor, attendees planted saplings of fruit-bearing trees, including coconut, mango, jackfruit, and banana, symbolising growth and sustainability.

Following the plantation drive, the gathering moved to the main hall for a cultural programme. Ananda welcomed the gathering and smoothly compered the event. Taking the stage, Rakesh Shetty B S encouraged the members to dedicate their musical talents to bringing joy to the underprivileged.

What followed was a heartwarming musical session, where members of Harmony Vibes enthralled the audience with their melodious voices, drawing comparisons to the sweet notes of a koel. The vibrant music moved the residents to sing and dance along, filling the hall with laughter and energy. They also provided groceries and needed items for the residents. That is a truly commendable action. Providing essential supplies like groceries and daily necessities goes a long way toward ensuring that residents feel supported, valued, and cared for. Practical donations often have the most immediate and tangible impact on the well-being of individuals in a community or care facility.

During the event, Sr Aileen Mathias, the administrator of Olavina Halli Ashram, shared the inspiring history and evolution of the center. She highlighted how the institution, which initially started as a refuge for leprosy patients, has transformed over the decades into a loving home for the elderly, the physically challenged, and intellectually disabled destitute individuals.

The memorable day concluded on a warm note with a sumptuous lunch served to all the residents and guests.
