Mangaluru, Jun 18: An awareness programme on work-related injuries and their prevention was conducted for police personnel at the Mangaluru East police station, Kadri Hills, with the aim of promoting occupational health and physical well-being among law enforcement officers.
The programme was organised under the guidance of Dr Bharath K H, principal of Mangala College of Physiotherapy, and was led by Dr Aarol D'Souza and Dr Varsha Marar, physiotherapists at Mangala Hospital and Mangala Kidney Foundation.

The initiative was held under the leadership of Dr Ganapathi P Bhat, chairman of the Mangala Group of Institutions, and Dr Anita G Bhat, vice-chairperson.
The event received support from police sub-inspectors Prathibha K H and Manohar Prasad, along with officers and staff of the Mangaluru East police station, who extended their cooperation throughout the programme.
Around 25 police personnel from the law-and-order Wing participated in the awareness session. The resource persons highlighted common occupational health issues faced by police officers, particularly musculoskeletal disorders caused by prolonged standing, sitting, driving and other duty-related activities.
Various preventive measures and practical strategies to minimise the risk of such injuries were explained during the session.
A special ‘Duty-Break Exercise Protocol’ was introduced and demonstrated to help personnel maintain physical fitness and reduce work-related strain during duty hours. Participants were also given practical guidance on proper sitting posture and ergonomic practices relevant to their daily responsibilities.
The session witnessed active participation from the police personnel, who engaged in discussions, sought clarifications and took part enthusiastically in the practical demonstrations.
The programme aimed to create greater awareness about occupational health among police personnel and encourage the adoption of preventive practices to enhance their overall health, fitness and work efficiency.
