Mangaluru, Jul 9: The Thokkottu–Mangaluru stretch of the Netravati bridge has become a growing cause for concern among daily commuters, as its deteriorating condition continues to pose serious risks to motorists. The road is riddled with numerous potholes and damaged patches, making travel increasingly difficult and unsafe, particularly for two-wheeler riders.

Motorists say they are forced to slow down abruptly, swerve to avoid potholes, and drive with extreme caution, resulting in traffic congestion and an increased risk of accidents. With thousands of vehicles, including buses, cars, and heavy trucks, using the route every day, commuters fear that the situation could worsen if immediate repairs are not undertaken.

Adding to the concern is the lack of adequate CCTV surveillance along the stretch. Regular road users point out that the absence of proper monitoring could hamper traffic management and make it difficult to investigate accidents and other untoward incidents.

The Netravati bridge serves as a vital link between Thokkottu and Mangaluru and is one of the busiest roads in the region. Commuters have urged the National Highways Authority of India (NHAI) to treat the issue as a priority and undertake immediate repair work before the damaged road leads to major accidents.

Residents and frequent travellers have appealed to the authorities to restore the road at the earliest, ensuring a safer, smoother, and more comfortable journey for the thousands of people who depend on this crucial route every day.
