Moscow, Mar 21 (IANS/RIA Novosti): Russian president-elect Vladimir Putin and US President Barack Obama have agreed to meet soon after Putin is sworn in May 7, Russian Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov said.
"Obama called Putin and they had a substantial discussion on key aspects of Russian-American relations and agreed to hold a direct meeting soon after the Russian president's inauguration," Lavrov told the Kommersant FM radio.
The telephone conversation between Obama and Putin took place March 10.
Putin won the March 4 presidential election by a substantial majority.
