Elderly biker dies after lorry collision near Byndoor

Byndoor, Jul 25: A 78-year-old man succumbed to his injuries after the two-wheeler he was riding was hit by a lorry near the Yadtare Junction U-turn on National Highway 66 in Byndoor.

The deceased has been identified as Sudhakar Shetty (78), a resident of Kalavadi.

According to police, the accident occurred around 12 noon on Thursday when Sudhakar Shetty was travelling from Ottinene towards Byndoor.

A lorry coming from behind allegedly rammed into his two-wheeler near the Yadtare Junction U-turn, leaving him with severe head and multiple bodily injuries.

He was initially admitted to the Byndoor Government Hospital and later shifted to Kasturba Medical College (KMC) Hospital in Manipal for advanced treatment. However, he succumbed to his injuries despite medical efforts.

A case has been registered at the Byndoor police station, and further investigation is underway.
