Mangaluru, Aug 8: The solemn holy Mass at St Lawrence Church & shrine, Bondel, was presided over by Dr Bernard Moras, archbishop emeritus of Bangalore. He was joined by Fr Basil Vas, rector and parish priest; Fr Lawrence Cutinha, assistant parish priest of Bondel; and Fr Peter Gonsalves, principal of St Lawrence English Medium School, who concelebrated the Eucharistic celebration.
In his homily, archbishop Bernard Moras reflected on the life, faith and martyrdom of St Lawrence, who faithfully followed Christ by reaching out to the poor, the sick and the suffering. He reminded the faithful that St Lawrence is like a candle that dispels darkness, illuminating the path of Christian love, faith and service.

Reflecting on Jesus’ command, “Love one another as I have loved you,” the archbishop encouraged the faithful to look to St Lawrence as a model of selfless love and courageous witness. He urged everyone to make Christ’s love visible in their daily lives through compassion, forgiveness, sacrifice and service to those in need.
During the celebration, special prayers were offered for all families, seeking god’s abundant blessings upon every home. Prayers were offered for unity, peace, love and faith, that every family may remain strong in god’s grace, grow together in harmony and reflect Christian love in their daily lives.
The evening liturgy was conducted by the parishioners of Bejai and Bondel, while the Bejai Kids Choir enriched the Eucharistic celebration with their joyful and prayerful hymns.
