Mangaluru, Aug 9: Popular Kannada music director and singer Guru Kiran is mourning the demise of his mother, A Rathnakanti Shetty.
Guru Kiran shared the heartbreaking news on social media, remembering his mother as the heart of the family and a constant source of love, strength and support.
"With a heavy heart, I share the heartbreaking news of the passing of our beloved mother, A Rathnakanti Shetty. She was the heart of our family, our strength, our source of love and warmth. Her unconditional love, quiet presence and immense sacrifices shaped who we are today," he wrote in an emotional post.
Following the news of her demise, several personalities from the Kannada film industry, celebrities and fans expressed their condolences on social media. They prayed for strength for Guru Kiran and his family to cope with the irreparable loss.
Hailing from Mangaluru, Guru Kiran's mother tongue is Tulu. Having developed a keen interest in music from a young age, he began his musical journey after completing his education by working as a singer and keyboard player with various orchestras and cultural groups in Mangaluru.
With a dream of making a name for himself in the music industry, Guru Kiran moved to Bengaluru. He initially worked as an assistant to noted music director V Manohar, where he learnt the finer aspects of music composition.
Guru Kiran made his debut as an independent music director with 'A', directed by and starring Real Star Upendra. His distinctive and energetic songs in his debut film struck a chord with music lovers, and there was no looking back for him.
He subsequently composed music for several successful Kannada films, including 'Upendra', 'Chitra', 'Appu', 'Apthamitra', 'Jogi', 'Aramane' and 'Ram', among others.
In recognition of his contribution to Kannada cinema, Guru Kiran has received the Karnataka State Film Award for Best Music Director and several Filmfare Awards.
His mother had been a strong pillar of support throughout his musical journey. Her demise is an irreparable personal loss for Guru Kiran and his family.
