The chief guest, in his address, emphasised that proper and responsible leadership is the need of the hour, highlighting the role of students as the future leaders of the country. He stressed that the seeds of leadership must be sown today to build a better society tomorrow and urged the students to make their presence felt wherever they are by remaining aware of contemporary challenges, speaking up against injustice, and having the courage to uphold what is right. He narrated a few recent incidents from Dakshina Kannada District to highlight the consequences of irresponsible choices and the importance of awareness and responsible conduct. He also spoke about various juvenile laws and their provisions, drawing attention to the legal consequences of irresponsible actions. Expressing concern over the growing issue of drug abuse among young people, he introduced the RISE approach—Refuse, Inform, Support, and Empathise, urging students to be aware and stay away from drugs and to extend support to those in need. He encouraged the students to make responsible choices, stand against social evils, and contribute positively to society as aware, courageous, and responsible citizens of the country.

Guest of honour Dr. Maji Jose, in her address, emphasised that the new role entrusted to the Student Council members is a celebration of trust, responsibility, and potential. She congratulated the outgoing Student Council members for their contributions and appreciated their efforts during their tenure. Addressing the newly installed council, she urged them to cultivate humility, refine their attitude, and take full ownership of their responsibilities through commitment and teamwork. She called upon them to work towards creating a campus free from drugs and ragging, fostering an environment that is safe, supportive, and memorable for every student. Encouraging them to make the most of this opportunity, she inspired them to make a meaningful difference by ensuring that every voice is heard and every student benefits from their leadership.

In his presidential address, Prof Jeevan Raj highlighted the importance of leadership, dedication, and the pivotal role of the student council in shaping the future of the institution. He reminded the newly installed members that they are the face of YIASCM and, therefore, entrusted with the responsibility of representing the institution with dignity and integrity. He urged them to protect the name and reputation of the institution through their conduct, decisions, and actions. Emphasising that true leadership is rooted in service and guided by integrity, he encouraged them to approach their roles with accountability and a strong sense of purpose. He stressed that a good leader is one who identifies challenges and works towards finding effective solutions, rather than merely pointing out problems. He also encouraged them to foster teamwork, mutual respect, and effective communication while remaining approachable to their peers. He concluded by urging the Student Council members to use their tenure as an opportunity to learn, grow, serve, and make a meaningful contribution to YIASCM.

Addressing the newly installed Student Council members, Prof Shareena P emphasised that “leadership is entrusted, not possessed,” reminding them that their positions are a responsibility entrusted to them to serve the student community, rather than a privilege to be possessed. She described them as change-makers and role models for the institution and society and urged them to represent their peers fearlessly and responsibly while cultivating integrity in judgement, courtesy in conduct, and courage in responsibility. She encouraged them to approach differences with maturity, respect diverse perspectives, and lead by example while balancing their leadership responsibilities with their academic pursuits. Highlighting qualities such as loyalty, enthusiasm, discipline, sincerity, reliability, and patience, she stressed that the Student Council serves as a bridge between the administration, faculty, and students, fostering communication, harmony, and progress. She also encouraged students to approach their representatives freely and express their needs and concerns, reminding them that the Council is of the students and for the students. She concluded by extending her warm wishes to the newly installed members and encouraging them to fulfil their responsibilities with commitment and dedication.

The principal of the institution administered the oath to the 55 Student Council members, who were presented with badges symbolising their roles and responsibilities. Aysha Azzah, President of the Student Council, shared her vision for the journey ahead.
