Doha: Soad-3 International Finalist Sana Britto Tops Qatar in CBSE Exams

Doha, May 30: Sana Britto, who recently captured the hearts of thousands with her amazing talent in Konkani singing reality show Soad-3 International, in which was a finalist, has added one more feather to her gleaming crown.

A student of MES Indian School, she has bagged the top score in the commerce stream in CBSE, among all the schools in Qatar, scoring 482 marks with 96.4 percent. With that, she also scored the highest mark ever by an MES student in commerce.

Daughter of John and Denzil Britto, Sana is truly a perfect blend of beauty, brains and talent. Her brother Deon who is working in Mumbai has represented Qatar national team in the under-19 cricket team.

As an icing on the cake, Sana is also the top scorer in economics (99%), business studies (97%), English (96%) and accountancy (95%), being among a select set of students who scored A1 in all the subjects.

Speaking to Daijiworld, Sana could not contain her joy. "On May 28 evening, the day the results were announced, I got a call from the head of girls section telling me that I broke the record for MES Indian School. I jumped with joy, my eyes full of happy tears."

"This is my dream gift to my parents and my school, as both kept faith in me," she said.

Asked how she could manage to divide her time between academics and Soad-3 contest and excel in both, she said she practised for Soad-3 a lot, but also ensured that she gave equal time to studies.

Though Sana is willing to take up opportunities in the field of music, her first preference is academics, and she has already got a seat in Carnegie Mellon University, Qatar to pursue business administration. In MES Indian School she was adjudged the 'Best Outgoing Student 2012 in commerce stream.

Sana’s reaching the finals of an international Konkani singing contest is all the more significant because she was brought up in Doha and hardly had any favourable environment around her that could nurture her Konkani reading and writing, even though her parents made it a point to converse in Konkani at home. She was born in Mumbai and moved to Doha at the age of two with her parents, and thereafter all these years has studied in MES Indian School.

Her talent is not just limited to singing and academics. She is also interested in dancing, public speaking and reading. She has been an active member of the children’s choir in Doha since the age of three and is now the choir leader. She has taken part in several singing and other competitions conducted by various clubs in Qatar especially the Mangalore Cricket Club. She joined the Doha Gavels Club affiliated to Toastmasters International and is serving as the president of the Club for the year 2012. 

On her success, Sana humbly says, "The credit goes to my parents, specially my mom who prepared me both for Soad-3 and my exams."

An elated mother told Daijiworld, "We expected her to top the school, but never imagined she would stand first in Qatar."
