Tue, Jun 05 2012Santhekatte junction where this accident happened is a very dangerous junction. Trucks & Busses plying from kundapur to udupi speed by at this junction and Udupi/kundapur busses/trucks and other smaller vehicles also speed by at this junction. Also Udupi/Kallianpur or Kemmannu traffic which is a straight road from puttur has to cross this junction with utmost care.
I request the RTO/Police dept. to install Traffic signals at this junction and also a TRAFFIC POLICEMAN (not any P/man at this junction to regulate the traffic.
Hope the responsible authorities will look into the matter with utmost urgency and implement the needful - thank you
my condolences to the bereaved family members.

Tue, Jun 05 2012Very sad!Using mobile phone whilst driving any vehicle should be stopped and drivers should be fined. I see children standing near the door of the bus or on the step waiting to get off and conductor keeping quiet when he can see this. Many a times, I shout at them and ask them to stay away from the door when I see them. Even people who see just do not bother. Music too is loud in the bus and it just hits your ears. Speed limits and speed breakers, hidden cameras to capture high speed is a must looking at the accidents taking place nowadays. Two wheelers have increased so much that it is so difficult to cross the roads. I pity the school going children who find it hard to cross the road. There should be zebra crossing and vehicles should be driven at a very slow speed. During the rainy season, roads are so slippery, God help us!! Buses should not be over crowded, Minimum limit for standing passengers should be made necessary. Even for children travelling in hired autos, since it is open on both sides, there should be a limit, with a little jerk, what will be the outcome? Every Life is precious, we have to take good care of our precious lives and also care for the lives of others. When there is a death during an accident due to rash / reckless driving, consuming of alchohol whilst driving, on mobile phone, licences should be confiscated and not allowed to drive atleast for some years. This will be a lesson for other drivers to adhere to traffic rules.

Yet Mangalore/Udupi RTOs are not bothered. They are registered members of “Yama”, since YAMA is busy now-a-days due to huge population hike. YAMA might have outsourced his task to our RTOs due to shortage of manpower with him and also to cut down the cost of his flight (high price of fuel and repeated increase in fuel price).
Now if someone goes to question about these tragedies, his associates and our traffic force who are having hand in the gloves are ready to arrest them.
One might have seen that, most of the contracting companies are transporting their labourers in the open lorry / mini van / pick-ups which is illegal and could lead to disaster if accident takes place, yet no police force is questioning or fining or seizing the vehicle. Their slogan is this “Mil baatke kayenge”.
Apart from that there is another issue, drivers are blowing the horns irrespective of its need and huge sound horns are fixed. Yet again, the music system inside the bus is another issue. Radio/music should be within the limit of audible sound. It is disturbing others and also driver is distracted from his responsibilities.
Following observation are worth noting:
- Most of the transport & goods vehicle are not having stop signal lights, no indicators
- No lane discipline is followed.
- No patience among the drivers
- Bus drives do not care even if there is a hump/speed breaker, he does not bother to slow down
- No punishment for wrong doers
- None of vehicles are seized in case of violation or accidents
- No statutory rule to pay the compensation by the driver or vehicle owner
- And many more to add
In private buses do you say only Drivers are responsible? Don’t you see the role of conductor who is encouraging the driver.

Tue, Jun 05 2012Udupi traffic cops are good for nothing.they are on the road to collect money from outstation cars /trucks on the national high way .they should be concentrating on city roads monitoring reckless driving, talking on mobiles when riding a 2 wheeler.recently they are harassing car owners with tinted film.i think as per MVA u hv to have your front and real glass without tint. When an doctor becomes IPS officer what action can expect from him. Many are not fit to become a policeman.

Tue, Jun 05 2012May the soul of Meenakshi and Jalaja rest in eternal peace in eternal peace and give comfort to her husband Santhosh Poojari and other family members and friends. Looking at the picture of the auto it seems that the driver was driving at high speed for which he should be arrested and spend his life in jail for the rest of his life and also his licence should be revoked for life and he should never be seen behind the wheels of any vehicle for life.

Mon, Jun 04 2012May their soul rest in peace. May God give strength and courage to the bereaved family to bear the irreparable loss. If we want to reduce such type accidents first of all passengers should unite from the bus itself alarm the driver not to rash and reckless drive and people of undivided Dakshina Kannada should unite and fight for the cause with the concerned departments to put cameras and speed breakers and speed limit and general public should block the road not to pass any vehicles till concerned department take the responsibility and general public should catch the driver and cut both legs then only they can understand the life of others and good lesson for other drivers. In Dakshina Kannada and Udupi districts peoples are chamchas for the political parties and just they are fighting for communally.

Mon, Jun 04 2012Very tragic accident. guess time has come when govt should think of putting signals after every 10 kms from nanthur to udupi. Also introduction of more speed breakers. May be in someway this will stop buses and lorries from overspeeding and simply creating problem for innocent pedestrians and also other vehicles that are not crossing the speed limit.
