Daijiworld Media Network - Mangalore
Mangalore, Jul 11: An unfortunate incident that made two little kids Suraksha (7) and Sushma (8) orphans, touched the hearts of Daijiworld readers worldwide as soon as it was published in the month of May.
Daijiworld had carried an appeal, narrating the sad story of their mother who was stabbed by their own father, who in turn committed suicide near Karkala taluk of Udupi district.
The kids who are looked after by their 76-year-old grandmother were facing extreme financial difficulties, and in addition was the burden of meeting their school needs. Now the kids along with their grandmother are staying in their mother's sister's place. The family is taking care of the two kids.
Approximately Rs 3 lac has been deposited in the bank account ever since the appeal was made public during the month of May.
"We are grateful to the people who supported us during our time of need. A few people had expressed doubt over how the donated money will be managed, as the grandmother is old, and the kids are minors. But we have decided to use the full amount on the betterment of the kids, and no other family member will use the money. It is public money, and we know the importance of such funds," said the kids' aunt Shantha while thanking all the readers who contributed for the cause.
"More than the money, we are touched by the consoling words of people from different parts of the world, some of the countries we have never even heard of. Atleast 20 individuals from abroad, 8 from Mangalore, Bangalore and Mumbai and a few associations have approached us and offered to help by expressing their will to adopt both the kids."
"But we had to humbly refuse the request to adopt, as we do not want to see them going away from us. For our mother (kids' grandmother), these two kids are everything. If she is living today, it is only because of them. She has gone through intense and deep pain after the unfortunate incident, and she has suffered a lot," Shantha said.
"Through Daijiworld, we thank all of them with folded hands for such a wonderful thought. Just the blessings of people make us feel that everyone is with us."
"We promise and assure in the name of God that the entire sum will be used only for the children, absolutely no doubt about it," she assured.
We at Daijiworld thank each and everyone who helped the family directly or indirectly during their time of need.
