Mangalore, Sep 27: There are those who do business, and those who do social work. And there are those handful of people who serve the society through their business.

Ganesh Shetty K, is one such humble man who wishes to render his service to  society through his business.

The founder and managing director of Apoorva Associates, Ganesh is a builder by profession. He sold a two BHK flat at Rs 3 lac, an unbelievable amount now, in his first project (Apoorva in Kodialguthu), back in the year 1995.

Ganesh Shetty was born and brought up in Kodialguthu. He pursued his education in Canara. He proudly mentions that he completed his education with the help of scholarships.

After his preliminary education, he continued his further studies in the field of civil engineering diploma in KPT. He then worked for 7 years under the guidance of different architects like Dharmapal, of whom he makes a special mention.

Beginning his career with building an independent house, he started his own construction business in 1995.

He says that it was his relatives and friends who played a pivotal role in helping him start this business. His friends were the one who supported him all the way through.

Now, 17 years into this business and nearly 20 projects of his own, he belives that there is quite a high range of speciality in his projects.

The main attraction according to Ganesh is that all his project begin with “A” and have 7 letters in them, such as Apoorva, Abishek, Amoolya, Asheesh, Ashlesh, Abhinav, Amritha, Advaith, Abhiram, Archana, Ashwini, Anantha, Apeksha, Anannya, Aniketh, Akshara, Agastya, Anoosha, Ambika and Ashiyan.

“My aim is to provide high standard luxurious apartments to the lower middle class,” says Ganesh.

Another prime factor is that all the projects are designed, constructed and promoted by the company, which makes them deliver the very best to their customers.

He has constructed nearly 100 individual houses, 4 commercial halls and a marriage hall, making him a premier in the field, loaded with knowledge and experience.

He says, "Roti, kapda and makan (food, cloth and shelter) are the three necessities in a person’s life. Roti and kapda are affordable, but makan is the one that everyone needs, but  cannot afford."

The price of a land or a flat has increased 10 folds over the last decade, primarily because of the hike in the price of materials, land cost and increased demand.

He says that he is not worried about competitors but is concerned only about rendering his service to the society with affordable, high quality flats in prime locations. He is the only one who has sold flats at Rs 500 per sq ft in the past.

A silent but successful builder, Ganesh also plans to construct a township and villa projects.
