Sharjah, Nov 19: Delhi Private School (DPS), Sharjah, affiliated to CBSE New Delhi, is the first school in the UAE which has branched out from its parent institute Delhi Public School, New Delhi.

On the eve of the annual day program on the November 6 the primary wing of DPS, Sharjah organized a cultural morning – ‘Fitness Funtasia’ for the students of Grade III & IV at the Sharjah equestrian and racing Club, Sharjah. The event showcased the importance of exercises for a healthy lifestyle.
Thumbay Moideen, founder president of Thumbay Group, UAE was invited as chief guest for the cultural event.
Moideen delivered a special talk on the topic of physical fitness. Whileexplaining to the children on the importance of fitness, he stressed on how important it was for all of them to be physically fit to achieve great things in life.
Especially in the age of automation where majority of the children are addicted to either television or computers, it is vital that they engage in some fitness/workouts such as floor stretches, step-ups, jogging, skipping while watching their favorite programs.He stressed on all the teachers and parents to put great emphasis on fitness activities. He added that many serious things in life can be learnt with fun.
Later Moideen emphasized on the children to dream big to achieve great things in life. And for that, one has to choose a role model.
He narrated about his childhood dream of achieving great things in life, how he chose his grandfather as his role model, the kindof inspiration and influence his grandfather had on his life.
He further advised the children to choose the role model of their own choice – “it could be the grandparents, parents, Principal, Headmaster, Headmistress or any eminent social figure who could possibly guide/aspire them to climb the ladder of success”.
In the end, Moideen spoke about the importance of moral conduct and character each child of has to grow up with. He read out the famous quote:“If Money is lost, nothing is lost; if Health is lost, something is lost; and if Character is lost, then everything is lost”.
He thanked the principal, the senior headmistress, staff, parents and students of the primary wing of the Delhi Private School, Sharjah for giving him the opportunity to share his thoughts about the importance and need for physical fitness for the budding children.
