Mumbai, Nov 21: Festive seasons have surrounded us, there’s nothing we can do to step away from this, rather join in and feel the vibe within.
Eid, Diwali, Navratri, Ganesh chaturthi and Christmas, no matter which religion you follow or believe or have faith in, celebration of a festival is inevitable, especially in a cosmopolitan like Mumbai.
Through the season vacations have been a means for many families to go on that much desired holiday to their favourite destinations. Well if you have missed out on that vacation for some reason or the other, St Joseph’s Church in Mira Road is right place to be in.
Mirafest 2012, it back with a flavorful bang. After almost a decade after it was first organised, Mirafest is being brought back with an aim, a motto and lots of hope.
Making it one of the largest festivals to be organised in the city of Mumbai the fest is not expecting anything less than a thousands of people flocking it’s various stalls, workshops and competitions such as fashions shows, dance competitions, Mad ads & many others.
Due to the sudden demise and the announcement of Bal Thackeray’s death though the organizers were not able to officially inaugurate the Mira Fest on the November 17, yet the Fest had an added joy as the corporator of Mumbai, Katlin Pereira came for a felicitation programme and on the stage expressed her sentiments telling that it is indeed good to see so many people here of different religions enjoying the programmes and having a good time.
Fr Dominic Vas, the Parish Priest thanked her for her esteemed presence and the support.
Spread over a 9 day schedule Mirafest is not only a parish affair open to only Christians but to every caste, creed, race and religion, making a statement on how the world today is living as one and celebrating as a family than different sects.
Students, teenagers, youth, middle aged, senior citizens, you may belong to any age, Mirafest has something in store for everyone in the city. This not being tagged as a mere fest but a platform to every artist in the suburbs of Mumbai who have something to show off about but making it a stage for performers again from every aspect of the society. Shows like ‘Mira’s got Talent’ will bring the best out of artists in the suburbs.
The parish has kept in mind every aspect of security concerns into it’s stride and has made safety and security it’s priority, arrangements for the same have been made adding to the carefree attitude in the vast area the church has to offer as a dance floor every night between 9-10pm after all the activities in the day come to an end.
