Sydney, Feb 6 (IANS): Australian retail turnover fell 0.2 percent in December 2012, data released by the Australian Bureau of Statistics (ABS) Wednesday showed.

It follows a fall of 0.2 percent in November and a fall of 0.1 in October, the ABS said.

The latest ABS retail traded figures showed Australian retail turnover fell to 21.42 billion AU dollars ($22.18 billion) in December, reported Xinhua.

Economists had forecast a rise of 0.3 percent for the month.

Economists said the December retail trade figures showed consumers remained cautious with their spending at the end of 2012.
