Bahrain, Mar 15: Anand Lobo has been elected president of the Indian Club Bahrain for the term 2013-2015. He is the first Mangalorean to be the president of this prestigious club.
Lobo born in a religious family in Mangalore after finishing his studies at St Aloysius College headed to Gulf and today has been a successful businessman in the kingdom of Bahrain and in Mangalore.
He has set a vision, when the Indian Club Bahrain turns 100. The Indian Club will celebrate 100 years on January 1, 2015. Preparations are on in a big way for the centenary celebrations.
The club is managed by an executive committee elected by members consists of prominent members of the society. The committee is headed by Anand Lobo as president and Cassius Perira as general secretary.
The induction ceremony of the new committee is scheduled on April 11 at the Indian Club premises. Business entrepreneurs, social workers and Padmashree Award winners will be gracing the occasion. Personalities like Ronald Colaco, Royal Family members of Kingdom of Bahrain will be present on the occasion.
The Indian Club, one of the oldest and largest clubs in Bahrain was established in 1915. The objective and scope of the club activities are to provide entertainment for members through various social and cultural activities, promote and encourage talents of the members on various cultural and educational fields, providing facilities within the club premises for sports like badminton, tennis, darts, table tennis, snooker and outdoor sports like cricket, organizing charity bazaars and encouraging charitable activities with the approval of ministry of labour and social affairs.
