Mumbai, Apr 2: Dr Pollipu Bharath Kumar, theatre director, was bestowed with the Suvarna Ranga Sanman Award 2013 recently at the Kanthavara Kannada Convention hall.
Suvarna Ranga Sanman Award has been instituted in the memory of Sadhanadha Suvarna, veteran theatre artiste.
Dr B A Sanadhi, veteran theatre performer in his address said that when the veteran theatre directors left Mumbai, there was need of theatre directors Dr Pollipu Bharath Kumar full filled the position.
Though Dr Pollipu was influenced by many theatre directors, like Eklavya ( the Hindu mythological character) he tried his best and became an undivided part Mumbai Kannada Theatre. He also founded 'Kalabharathi' and developed the art.
Dr Eshwar Alevooru, chief guest in his address said that Dr Pollipu Bharath Kumar was a creative and effective director, who created his foot prints in historical Mumbai Kannada Theatre. Continuing the theatre culture of Sadhanada Suvarna, he also beautified Kannada drama which is very similar to Marathi dramas.
After receiving the award Dr Pollipu Bharath Kumar said there were many opportunities arose to build a new theatre style in Mumbai when government stopped the Natakostava in Mumbai.
In order to strengthen the existence of Kannada theatre and in memory of the revolution of theatre, there was a time when technical skill itself became the secret to the success of a drama, although Sadhanada Suvarana proved that acting could also lead to its success.
Kanthavara Dr Na Mogasale said though the life in Mumbai is mechanical, the work of building the human relations through dramas is being conducted.
"There has been a vast change in culture but it has been preserved through drama. In the future, we will set up an establishment of Mogasale publication which will be valued more," he added.
Kanthavar KC Padival was on stage, secretary Beladi Ramachandra Acharya welcomed the audience, Dr Seethalaksmi Karkikodi introduced the guests, Manjunath Shetty compered and Saadhanada Naravi delivered the vote of thanks.
