Mangalore, Jan 2: Following the reports that Mangalore could be the next target of terrorists after the attack in Bangalore on December 28, security arrangement in the city is being elaborated in several industrial and business centres.

Although police officers said that there was no official information received in this regard, security was being tightened as a precautionary measure at and around the important areas here, including the airport, the Port and major industrial establishments.

On December 28, suspected terrorists has attacked the Indian Institute of Science (IISc) in Bangalore when an international science seminar was in progress, killing a retired Indian Institute of Technology (IIT), Delhi professor and injuring six others.

Two days later, a letter warning of bomb attacks at Chief Minister N Dharam Singh's residence and a five-star hotel in the city on New Year eve was received by the Karnataka police.

The police had said that the letter was sent by one Moinuddin, stating there would be explosions at the Chief Minister's residence and at Hotel Grand Ashok by two suicide bombers on December 31 night, though no such incident occurred.
