Mangalore, Jan 3: While Bangalore is yet to recover from the nightmarish experience of the attack on the Indian Institute of Sciences (IISc) on December 28, the DGP of the state has asked the Dakshina Kannada SP to keep a hawk's eye on Madarasas functioning in the district, informed sources said.

After the role of one of the Madarasas of the district was proven in the attack, the DGP has asked the district police to keep a vigilant eye on the Muslim religious centres of the district.  A special mention has been made to keep a close watch on the students who have come from other states.  So too the police have been directed to keep exact records about the activities of Madarasas and their social contact.  Alongside, the police have also been asked to check the financial sources of the Madarasas.

In the meantime even the areas, which have been marred with Naxal menace, too have been asked to be closely monitored.  Since there are a lot of Naxalites who are from the other states in the Malnad region, the police have kept a close vigil on their activities too.

Meanwhile some sources said that two persons have been arrested at Adyar and Kotekar areas of the district in connection with the attack on IISc.  It is said that the terrorist who attacked IISc had connection with the district and a Madarasa of the district had given them a recommendation letter.

However, Western Range IGP Suresh Babu and SP B Dayanand are yet to confirm the news of the arrest of two persons by Bangalore police.  The top police officials when contacted said that they were not yet aware about the arrest of anyone in the district so far.  However, they said that Bangalore police might have nabbed some people without informing any local police and officials.
