Daijiworld News Network - Mangalore / Bangalore (VM/MB)

Mangalore, Jan 4: Some confusion and ambiguity has been prevailing in media and police circles in Mangalore and Bangalore regarding the arrests made following the suspected terrorist attack in Bangalore. There are two angles seen in this regard.

One, with the stepping in of central intelligence agencies into the picture, it is possible that for the sake of secrecy, the police set-up in the state capital has not been informed.

Two, it is possible that all agencies - state and central - have been working in tandem but no information is being made available while the investigations are on, so that no one would get away from the police dragnet.

The second possibility appears more plausible. In the interest of keeping things confidential, to some extent, some conflicting statements have been heard from different quarters. This holds good for the details which are available from informed sources regarding arrests made in the matter.

According to reliable sources in the capital, one of the arrested is one Abdul Latif from Katipalla in Mangalore. The Bangalore police on Monday had arrested two persons, and the identity of the second was not made available.

Another report said that between the two, one hails from Faisalnagar in Bajal, Mangalore and the other a native of Kerala and a resident of Kotekar. However, no information whether the arrested were terrorists themselves or supported terrorist activies has been revealed.

Mangalore: Are the rumours that the city is next on the hit list of the terrorists valid?

It is reported that squad led by a DCP-rank officer from Bangalore have made arrests from the city.

However, police stations in th city's suburbs like Ullal police station and Rural police stations have put on high alert, as there are more number of Madrasas falling under the jurisdiction of these two stations.

Deputy commissioner H V Parshwanath said the CM has directed to keep a special vigil on major institutions in the district. "The district administration has strictly implemented CM's order in the district over the past two days. The police and the concerned institutions have jointly taken the responsibility of the security," he said.

Besides this, places like airport, railways and IT Industries are under strict vigil, he added.
