Mangalore, Jan 6: IGP western range K S Suresh Babu on Thursday inaugurating the 17 th Road Safety Week organised by the Police department and the Regional Transport Office at the Police Guest House. Speaking on the occasion, he stressing the importance of infrastructural development in the City. There is a need to have proper plan while developing infrastructure in the City. Planning, he said should be with a vision for the next 25 to 30 years.
The number of vehicles have considerably increased.

Earlier, if a house had one car, now it has increased to three or two. There may come a day, when the law may put restriction on the number of vehicles to be owned by an individual, he added.

Speaking on the need of the programme, district superintendent of police B Dayananda said that the event is organised to create awareness among the people so that the roads are safe and the roads are used safely.

"The decisions taken here must come into effect and the number of accidents should decrease. Only then the programme will be effective," he added.

He also said that the public should forget their personal difficulties for the provisions of the public.

Deputy commissioner H V Parshwanath and mayor K Ashraf  were also present on the occasion.
