BJP leaders falling sick due to Narendra Modi: Congress

New Delhi, Jun 7 (PTI) : Congress today took potshots at BJP over absence of some of its leaders from the party meeting in Goa, saying senior leaders are falling sick "due to Gujarat Chief Minister Narendra Modi" and the BJP should think what will happen to the country because of him.

With 85-year-old LK Advani not attending today's meeting of BJP office bearers in Goa as he is unwell, Congress leader Rashid Alvi remarked "Due to Modi, senior leaders of the BJP are falling sick"

"BJP should think what will happen to the country because of him. My full sympathies to those who are falling sick due to Modi", Alvi said.

Party spokesman Shakeel Ahmed also took a dig at the BJP over the development, remarking "Modi group has chased away Advani group within the BJP".

While Advani will not be attending the office bearers meeting today, he is expected to be present at the party National Executive being held in the next two days.

Modi's role in the next Lok Sabha election is expected to be the dominant theme of the BJP National Executive, amid a strong demand from some sections of the party for declaring him the campaign committee head.

Ahead of the two-day conclave, Central office-bearers of the party will meet to discuss the agenda for the National Executive meet.

Sources said some of the office-bearers are likely to press for declaring Modi as the campaign committee head during the conclave.

But a consensus on the issue is eluding the party top brass. As a result, the proposal may not see the light of day at the National Executive meet.

Several top BJP leaders are likely to skip the national executive. Vice President Uma Bharti, General Secretary Varun Gandhi, Deputy Leader of BJP in Rajya Sabha Ravi Shankar Prasad, Jaswant Singh and Shatrughan Sinha are not likely to attend, party sources said.

Advani being senior BJP leader & most experienced politician can imagine the danger, if Modi becomes PM of India. So, he don't want to endorse Modi & get blamed in the future.

Mr KRPRABHU & VIVEK after the 1984 riots BJP / NDA ruled India for 5-6 years.. Why BJP went in to COMA by not punishing the criminals of 1984 riots during their rule. Where is the difference between BJP and Congress. Do not justify Gujrat riots while condemning the 1984 riots. We have to condemn both the unfortunate man made tragedies.Yes I can understand the pain of the people who lost their lives NOT ONLY in the burning train BUT ALSO in whole gujrat state. Similarly as you are thinking of your family members killed in the the riots ALSO think of thousands of innocent ladies raped on streets by the sangh parivar goondas and other criminals.

And after the fire in bogie what happened everybody knows , as if everybody was waiting for this to happen so that they can start riots !!

I suggest you put your thinking cap on !!
