Mother abhors Demi Lovato's tattoos

Los Angeles, Jun 13 (IANS): Actress-singer Demi Lovato says her mother hates her 13 tattoos and doesn't understand how important and meaningful they are to her.

"My mother and I got into a huge fight when I got the birds on my arms, just because she has a different perception of tattoos than my generation does. And so it's hard to explain to her that it's like art for your skin and you don't have to draw it on every day," femalefirst.co.uk quoted Lovato as saying.

"It's something that's meaningful. My mother and dad get so mad. We got into a huge fight over this," she said.

The 20-year-old admitted once she didn't speak to her mother for an entire day after the fight. And her father always tries to avoid mentioning her tattoos.

"I went over to my mother and I had bandaged it up, which probably made it look bigger than it was, so she just thought I'd got a half sleeve or something. She didn't react well and I ended up leaving," she said adding: "It was pretty bad. My dad still, to this day, has not mentioned anything about my tattoo, which is pretty funny."

However, the actress who appears as a judge on "The X Factor" US, said she regrets getting some of the tattoos like a drawing of her friend's lips on her wrist, the words 'rock 'n' roll' and 'peace' on her fingers. She has even considered having laser treatment to remove them.
