Mangalore, Jan 12: Bharatanatyam talent Plavita Rai will make her Rangapravesham on Sunday, January 15 in the Town Hall at 5.30 pm.

Jyoti Pattabhiraman of Sadhana Sangama Dance Centre, Bangalore will be the chief guest at Rai's debut performance.  

Former MAHE vice chancellor and writer Prof B M Hegde, Alva's Education Foundation chairman Dr M Mohan Alva and artiste Ullal Mohan Kumar will be present.

Plavita, a VII standard student, was initiated into the noble art at her four-and-a-half-year age and trained under the tutelage of the noted Bharatanatyam exponent Uma K.

A multi-faceted young person, she has won many prizes in various events like fancy dress, filmi dance, drawing, rangoli and singing competitions conducted by Karavali Utsav, Bunts Sangh, Ragataranga, Mangalore Musical and Cultural Academy, Jaycees and other organizations, when she was just eight years old.
 
She gave about 108 performances on various occasions at Karwar in three years of her primary education and received wide appreciation. At the age of 10, she was selected at the zonal level and entered the final State level Bala Pratibha, conducted by Kannada and Culture department.
 
She has extensively performed at various temples in Karwar, Sirsi, Dharwad, Haveri, Belgaum, Bangalore and Udupi. She has also passed her junior grade examination with good performance in 2004.
