Mumbai, Jul 17 (Mid-Day): In a shocking incident, Navghar police in Mulund have arrested a bar dancer who viciously attacked and grievously injured her partner by first stabbing and then biting him with her teeth. However, the victim who’s a builder claims cops have not applied stringent sections of the law against the woman as she comes from a prominent political family.
On July 15, Walter Dominic Ferrose (50) approached several top cops demanding the arrest of his partner Palak Datta Patil under section 307 (attempt to murder) of Indian Penal Code (IPC). While Navghar police did arrest her, they booked her under sections 324 (hurt by weapons), 342 (wrongful confinement) and 506 [II] (punishment for criminal intimidation) of IPC.
According to the FIR (copy with MiD DAY), on the morning of June 14, Palak called Ferrose to her residence and threatened that if he failed to come, she would kill their son and then commit suicide. Ferrose rushed to her Trilok Heights, Mulund (East) home. A heated argument ensued between the couple. In a fit of rage, Palak attacked Ferrose with a kitchen knife. When the blade got damaged, she picked up a second knife and stabbed him several times on his stomach. Ferrose managed to snatch the weapon and threw it out of the window.
“The attack was so sudden that I had no time to react. Also, I was in an inebriated state and she took advantage of it. As I got weaker due to blood oozing out of my body, she hit me with her hands and feet. She kicked on my private parts and then bit me on my hand and cheek,” said Ferrose, narrating the bizarre episode.
Unable to restrain Palak, Ferrose locked himself inside the bedroom and called the police control room. Cops arrived a little later and rescued Ferrose after breaking open the door. He was admitted to a BMC-run medical institute, and then shifted to Aastha Hospital. Police arrested Palak, who was later released on bail.
“I nearly died. Doctors kept me under observation for five days. Later, they operated upon me. I received more than 20 stitches on my abdomen and was discharged after 11 days. But police did not register a strong case,” said Ferrose.
MiD DAY repeatedly tried to contact Palak, but her phone was switched off. “We registered FIR under sections 324, 342, and 506 (II) of IPC on the day the matter was reported. We are waiting for the medical report, after which, if needed, we will add more sections,” said MA Talekar, sub-inspector, Navghar police station.
