Mumbai, Jan 26: On the occasion of the Republic Day of India, governor S M Krishna took part in the official celebrations on Thursday at Shivaji Park, Dadar (W)

Maharashtra governor S M Krishna on Thursday unfurled the National Flag at the state function to celebrate the 56th Anniversary of the Republic Day at Shivaji Park, Dadar, Mumbai and read out the Republic Day message to the people of Maharashtra.

The Governor inspected the ceremonial parade and later took salute from the marching contingents of the Indian Navy, State Reserve Police Force, NCC, Riot Control Police, Central Industrial Police Force and students of the National Service Scheme, Scouts and Guides on the occasion  at 9.14 a.m.

Governor's wife Prema Krishna, chief minister Vilasrao Deshmukh and wife Vaishali Deshmukh, deputy chief minister R.R.Patil, mayor of Mumbai Datta Dalvi, general officer commanding in chief, Maharashtra and Gujarat area Maj.Gen Tejinder Singh, chief secretary R M Premkumar, director general of police Dr P.S.Pasricha, municipal commissioner Johny Joseph, commissioner of Mumbai police A.N.Roy, members of the consular corps, officers of the armed forces, civil services and Maharashtra police and large number of citizens were present on the occasion.   In the evening, the governor was scheduled to host an “At Home” reception at Raj Bhavan.
