Cop assaulted by MLAs shunted out of Mumbai

Mumbai, Aug 9 (PTI): Mumbai police traffic department's sub-inspector Sachin Suryavanshi, who was allegedly assaulted after he fined an MLA for speeding, has been transferred out of the city.

Suryavanshi had been allegedly beaten up by some MLAs in the Maharashtra Assembly premises, after he stopped and fined Bahujan Vikas Aghadi MLA Kshitij Thakur for speeding his vehicle on the Bandra-Worli sea link in March this year.

He was subsequently suspended following a breach of privilege motion against him in the state Legislature, but the suspension was revoked last month and he had been reinstated.

"There is an order from the Director General of Police's office on his transfer to Police Training Centre in Sangli district," a senior traffic police official told PTI today.

Police described the shifting of the controversial policeman as a routine transfer. In March, MLAs Ram Kadam (MNS) and Kshitij Thakur had been arrested by the crime branch for allegedly assaulting the police officer, attached to Worli Traffic Police, inside the Vidhan Bhawan premises.

They were later released on bail. During the budget session, five MLAs including Thakur and Kadam were suspended from the Assembly after they allegedly beat up Suryavanshi.

On July 24, their suspension was revoked by the state Assembly.

I dont think this honest policeman will ever in his life stop even terrorists. So much so for honesty and sincerity. No wonder Chinese and Pakis entering India. See the respect Bihar Govt gave for our soldiers. For me it is a shame to repeat his remark. Also our defense minister doesnt know whats happening inside his white lungi.

This cowardly act by the Government will undoubtedly demoralise honest and efficient police officers. These rogues who have been elected by the people should realise that they are our servants and not our masters. They should be shown their places by the people.

The elected/nominated members of the assembly/parliament are really behaving above law recently and these types of crimes are on the increase. We don't know why these people who run the government set example to others in their behavior and dealings.Hope the government take immediate corrective steps to stop these cases on priority.Thanq.

Disproportionate assets , bribery ,corruption, land grabbing, rapes, cheating, drunk driving, speeding etc must be made legal. If any police catches such people Government must punish police, because above are crimes in other countries and punishable so we have show that we are better than others.
