Mangalore, Feb 7: A day`s HIV/AIDS awareness Training Workshop was organized by The Canara Organization for Development and Peace in the CODP-ISD hall, Kadri Hills, Nantur, Mangalore on Monday, February.

Inaugurating the workshop, CODP director Fr Onil D'Souza said "HIV/AIDS is very much a human and social problem that cannot be addressed merely as a public health and medical issue. In addition to possessing a factual knowledge base, it requires that we focus upon eradication of prevailing misunderstanding in the society.  Instead of isolating the infected as untouchables, they should be treated with love and affection and given an opportunity to lead a normal life."

Chandravati and Sudhir of Freedom Foundation, Udupi, social workers of CODP, Stree Shakti Sangha, and social workers of other organizations took part in the workshop.
