Udupi, Feb 12: The Manipal Institute of Communication (MIC), in association with the Centre for Humanities and other constituent units of MAHE have set up the Manipal Film Study Centre (MFSC), first of its kind in India.
Prasar Bharathi chairman and MIC honorary director M V Kamath who was the chief guest on the occasion on Saturday said that MAHE, which such state-of-art facilities, must come out with excellent films and also churn out 'A' class theatre and drama critics. He further added that MIC was the only institution in the country, which taught film journalism.
Director of the Centre for Humanities Ranga Pai said that the centre worked towards making available the world cinema to the masses, engaging members of the MAHE community in watching films and developing a tendency to criticise the films.
The centre was inaugurated by MAHE Vice-Chancellor Dr H S Ballal.
