Kundapur, Feb 18: In another fatal accident on the National Highway 17 at Neeroni near Maravante here, a Dalit Sangharsh Samiti (DSS) activist died on the spot on Friday February 17 afternoon.

Annappa (30), a resident of Ambagilu near Uppunda here was on his way to the city riding his recently bought mobike when a lorry laden with cement coming from the opposite direction turned turtle on the highway.  Before Annappa could escape, lorry knocked him down.  As he fell on the road, cement pipes fell on him in heap causing an instant death.

Annappa was the president of Ambedkar Yuvaka Mandala of Byndoor.  He was also the active member of local unit of DSS.  He was also the committed worker of Samajwadi party.  He was known to be an able organizer. He had recently a bought a mobike.  But sad is that within a few days of buying the mobike, he met with the fatal accident.

After the lorry turned turtle on the highway, the traffic was blocked for sometime as the cement pipes on the lorry fell along the road.  But the Gangolli police with the help of the locals cleared the way after a while.

While the lorry driver Russell of Mulki near Mangalore has escaped unhurt, cleaner Hanumanta (36) has suffered injuries to his legs.  One of his legs has been fractured and he has been advised to undergo a surgery for the same.  He has been admitted a private hospital here.
