Mangalore, Feb 23 (2-15 pm IST): The department of journalism, St. Aloysius College Mangalore, will organise ‘Shooting Stars’, the students first short film festival Saturday, February 25 at the college Teletorium (Audio Visual Room).
The festival will be inaugurated at 12.30 pm followed by screening of the films made by the students of St Aloysius College journalism department and awarding prizes and certificates to the students, informed head of the department Fr Richard Rego in a press conference here on Thursday, February 23.
A total of eight films have been made by the students which will be screened on the occasion. “These films were made as a part of the Students' Short Film Making Competition organized by the department in November 2005,” said Fr Rego.
The competition aimed at complementing the students' theoretical and book-based learning with some practical experience.
The films and their details are as follows:-
1. For Whom It Rings -film on the influence of SMS with the entry of mobile phones in college campuses

2. Frens - film on relationship between college friends

3. Aeiou- (an effort in our unity), is a film on the struggles involved in making a film

4. Late Entry- is a movie on a habitual late comer to the classroom

5. The Abyss - (the fatal fall), is a 14-minute film by III Yr Journalism students team

6. Taboo - a film on the emotional life a adults

7. Aastha- a short film with minimum dialogues, music and expression

9. WHAT!!!?? : We have all that - a film about the experience of students as an SAC student.
