Kundapur, Mar 27: In the clash between the police and a group of people which resulted in clamping of Section 144, four persons were injured at Shirur near the boundary between Udupi and Uttar Kannada districts on Friday, March 24. Abdul Aziz (21), Abdul Khayyam (24), Ayesha (60) and Najmunnisha (32) were injured and are admitted to the Kundapur Government Hospital.

As reported earlier, a group of people assaulted the police at Shirur, in connection with an incident involving an autorickshaw driver, throwing soda bottles at them. It is alleged that the police beat up Abdul Aziz and Abdul Khayyam to dispense the crowd.

Ayesha, who was traveling in an autorickshaw belonging to Mukhtar too was injured and is been admitted to the hospital. Najmunnisa, who has suffered injuries in the incident, too is hospitalized.

Udupi district congress committee president M G Gafur visited the injured in the hospital.

Section 144 was extended up to 8 am on Monday, March 27. However normal life has been affected due to the prohibitory orders in force.

Four persons have been arrested in connection with the incident and Byndoor police have taken into custody Mukhtar, an autorickshaw driver.
