Moodbidri, Mar 29: A lorry laden with iron ore crashed into a tiled house by the side of NH 13 at Kesarugadde, Belvai near here on March 27 morning.

The driver of the lorry is said to have lost control over it and the vehicle first hit an Icon car coming from Karkala towards Moodbidri. Then it swerved and crashed into the house of Naveen Hegde.

It is said that it was exactly the time Hegde would have sat there every day and read newspapers. Had he not gone to Bangalore, he could have been a victim, said eyewitnesses.

The damage to the house could be to the extent of Rs one lac, said close sources.

Minister at Bootasthana

Moodbidri: State minister fro medical education and animal husbandry Dr V S Acharya took part in a religious function held at Bootarajagudde on Saturday night.

Aladangadi Aramane Dr Padmaprasad Ajila presided over the function. Bhattaraka Charukirti Swamiji of Jain Math, Moodbidri, MP Manorama Madhwaraj, former minister Amaranath Shetty, Dr M Mohan Alva, Naveen Kumar Kateel, Shripati Bhat, Sheenappa, Mumbai entrepreneur Jayakrishna Shetty, tahsildar Achyuta, committee vice president K P Jagadish Adhikari and others were present on the occasion.
