 Mangalore , April 8: In a bizarre incident, MP B Janardhan Poojary declined to felicitate mayor and corporator as requested by the organisors at an inaugural function of the ground floor building of Daivashree Community Hall of Urwa-Chilimbi Malaraya Dhoomavathi Daivasthana on Friday.

The incident happened when Poojary after inaugurating the building, was about to address the gathering, the organisers requested him to felicitate mayor K Ashraf and corporator Kamalaksha Kunder saying they were instrumental in making the building a reality. But Poojary turned down their plea.

Shocking as it was, Poojary defended his action saying it is their obligation to work for their constituency and there is no need to honour them.

When organisors requested mayor Ashraf and corporator Kamalaksha Kunder to accept the felicitation, Kunder politely declined the offer saying he would rather follow the path set by his mentor Poojary. Even mayor K Ashraf too refused to take the honour.

Later, Balkrishna, a temple worker, engineer A V Suresh Rao, Derebail Harikrishna Tantry, who had rendered their contribution in construction of the community hall were felicitated.

Kadri Manjunatha Temple managing trustee A J Shetty presided. MLA N Yogish Bhat spoke on the occasion. Keshav Patri, Derebail Harikrishna Tantri, Seva Samiti honorary president B G Suvarna and general secretary Eshwar Salian were present.

Poojary promised to release Rs 15 lakh from the MP local area fund of for the development of Chilimbi Malaraya Dhoomavathi Daivasthana. He called upon the people to live harmony.
