Mangalore, Apr 13: A teenaged boy who had jumped into a pond the stone quarry to bathe at Jelligudde near Kottara Chowki died of drowning on Wednesday April 12 morning.

Shivprasad (12) had jumped into the pond to bathe.  A young woman who was washing clothes in the same pond saw this and thought he might know to swim.  But after a while she saw the boy drowning.  She immediately threw a cloth for him to hold.  But Shivprasad could not.

So she shouted for help.  But by the time the people came for rescue, Shivprasad had drowned.  He was later fished out of the pond by the public.
