Mangalore, Apr 13: Couples For Christ (CFC) in Mangalore Diocese welcomed the year 2006 by chalking out Christian Life programmes (CLP) simultaneously at Udupi, Agrar, Ashoknagar, Vamanjoor, Kulshekar, Angelore and at Pastoral center Bajjodi.

CLP is a week end programme consisting of 12 talks spread over 3 months which paves the way for commitment of willing couples and members to the various ministries of CFC.

 On conclusion of the CLP programme at Vamanjoor, Kulshekar, Angelore and Bajjodi, a solemn commitment ceremony was held on Sunday April 2 at Pastoral center Bajjodi.  A total of 47 couples, 14 single women (Hand Maids of the Lord – HOLD) and 25 young men and women (Singles For Christ - SFC) committed themselves willingly. Msgr Fred V Pereira, vicar general, graced the occasion, blessed and handed over the badges. He wished that all the 45,000 families of the diocese come into the fold of CFC.

 Fr Victor D'Mello, spiritual director, who is also the director of Family Life Service Centre of Mangalore diocese, wished the members growth in commitment and in the spirit of the Christ.  

Earlier 23 couples had committed themselves at Udupi, Agrar and Ashok Nagar two weeks ago.

CFC Cluster Leaders Alex and Lynette Serrao together with Chapter Leaders and members of CFC welcomed the newly committed couples and members into the fold of CFC. With this in less than 3 years over 300 couples, 25 Hand maids of the Lord (Single Women), 70 Singles For Christ (SFC) and   175 Youth For Christ (YFC) have committed themselves to CFC in the Diocese of Mangalore.
