Officers 'scared' to appoint women as PA, says SP leader

New Delhi, Nov 27 (PTI): In remarks that could stoke a fresh controversy, Samajwadi Party leader Naresh Agrawal on Wednesday said that officers are “scared” to appoint women as their personal assistants after the passage of the bill to prevent sexual harassment of women at workplace.

Agrawal refrained from commenting on the rape case against Tarun Tejpal till the probe is completed.

“I had apprehended that this law may also be misused like the anti-dowry law and may result in a situation which the women themselves are deprived of justice. I have got this information from many people that a number of senior officers are not appointing women as their personal assistant. They are scared anyone may have to face any kind of allegation after this,” Agrawal, who is a Rajya Sabha member, said.

However, on Tejpal case in specific, Agrawal said that nothing can be said right now when the matter is under investigation of Goa police and hence one has to watch for the legal process to culminate. Responding to another question about the incident of a rape incident in UP, Agrawal said that “such incidents are happening in every part of the country...such incidents are happening frequently in Delhi” and wondered why media was “so much concerned this time”.

Agrawal, at the same time, maintained that he was hopeful that the government will ensure punishment to culprits and that actions is being taken into the matter.

Ultimately women themselves will be the losers, if various types of accusations are leveled against men. There will be a fear factor for employing women in all places.

Organisations\offices will be very reluctant to employ women fearing false charges against the menfolk in those offices.
Even walking behind women will be so dangerous as there is every chance they may say "the man" was stalking!!
With the present law which is one sided, women can put men into lot of troubles, if the men are not liked by them or if they were spurned by the men for their advances or even when they are paid by (ever paying) political party who wants to win by hook or crook.

It is high time the law is amended so that men are not put to trouble unnecessarily.

Appointing women workers are becoming danger now a days. We have lot of examples and bad experiences. In Mangalore-Udupi also so many shop owners were beaten by the goondas fro the female staff side, in the name of touching, sexual harassment etc. Govt or Private organisations should understand this and better to avoid appointing female staff.

I always wanted to eat a couple of those peanuts...
If, as you put it, their option will be selling peanuts on the street, then there is a better chance of savoring those couple of peanuts there, from each one of them.
What do you say Mr. Bhandarkarmam.

Naresh Agarwal of S.P is the most foolish politician and worst than Kapil Sibbal, Manish tivari and Diggy put together. Moreover the SP party has always been anti-women. This Foolish blabbering of Agarwal is just natural for SP party. The women Organizations should protest against him.
