Dubai, April 22: Karnataka Sangha Dubai Sports Festival & Cricket Tournament was held at Al Badar Cricket Ground, behind Al Wasl Hospital, Dubai on Friday 21st APRIL 2006.
President of Karnataka Sangha Dubai C.R.Shetty inaugurated the event and welcomed the gathering.
Special Attraction of all the events was Ladies Cricket match, two teams participated in the match and the trophy was bagged by Karnataka XI and the runners up were Jashan.
Prabhakar Ambalthare of KOD1152 AM who was a surprise guest speaking on the occasion said that inspite of making this sports Festival as a annual event it should also recognize the talented sports person ,encourage them and support them to reach National and International level ,and for this good work KOD1152 AM will always render its support.
Variety of games like Picking the Toffee, 25 & 50Mt race, Frog Race, Picking the Lemon, One legged race, Skipping and 75,100 & 200Mt race, was held for below Four, ten and Fifteen years old boys and girls.
Athletic events like 100 Mts race & Shotput for men and Women below Thirty Two and Below Forty were held.
For the age group of below and above fifty years Shotput, Penalty Kick, Aiming the Wicket for men and Throwing Ball in the Bucket and Lemon & Spoon race for Women were conducted.
A crowd of around three hundred cheered and also participated in various events through the day.
For the gents Cricket tournament around eight teams participated, Trophy was clinched by Millennium Metals and the runners up was bagged by Abu Dhabi Karavali.
A Live commentary in Kannada and English was by Sudhakar Thumbe, Vivian Pinto and John Montero.
Umpires for the cricket match were Vijay, Prabhakar Suvarna and Suchit kumar.
Scorers were Prem pais and Ivan Pinto.
Sports Secretary Daya Kirodian, Yogitha Salian and Manohar Hegde organized the games and entertainment events for the day in an inimitable way.
The main sponsor of the day’s event was Sylvester Narohna Proprietor MILLENIUM METALS FZCO.
Prizes for the winners of various events was given away by President C.R.Shetty, General Secertary John Montero, Sports Secretary Daya Kirodain and other committee members.
General Secretary John Monteiro proposed vote of thanks.
The event concluded with Bingo and Raffle draw.
