Karunanidhi decries Kerala move on Tamils' land

Chennai, Dec 10 (IANS): DMK president M. Karunanidhi Tuesday said Kerala is not right in taking back land owned by Tamils for giving it to tribals when similar action has not been taken against multinational corporations (MNCs) owning around 28,000 acres near the Western Ghats.

In a statement here, Karunanidhi said the Kerala government, citing an apex court judgment, has asked Tamils who bought land from tribals in the Attappadi district to surrender the land so it could be handed back to the tribals.

Karunanidhi alleged some Kerala government officers are attempting to transfer the land acquired from Tamils to MNCs instead of giving it back to the tribals.

He wondered what would happen to national integration if each state decides to send back people from another state.
