BSP legislator accused of threatening policeman

Ghaziabad, Dec 12 (IANS): A BSP legislator is facing charges of sheltering two wanted criminals and threatening a policeman with dire consequences when he went to the politician's house to arrest them.

A complaint has been filed by now retired police inspector C.P. Singh, who alleged that he was threatened by Bahujan Samaj Party member of Uttar Pradesh legislative council Prashant Chaudhary alias Pappu Bhati at his residence here in August 2011.

Chaudhary has been declared the BSP candidate from Baghpat for the 2014 parliamentary elections.

The complaint said Sukhpal and Devraj, two personal security officers of Chaudhary, were named in a case of fraud. Both were avoiding courts despite being served warrants.

When Singh went to Chaudhary's house to arrest them, the BSP leader threatened the officer with dire consequences, the complaint said.
