Government's Lokpal bill not strong: AAP

New Delhi, Dec 15 (IANS): The Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) Sunday rejected the Lokpal bill under consideration in parliament, saying it was weak and would not prevent corruption, but work instead to "protect the corrupt".

"This Lokpal bill does not provide for formation of Lokayuktas, there is no provision for whistle blower protection, and it is not free of the government," said AAP member Prashant Bhushan.

"What is the point of passing this Lokpal bill, it will not stop corruption at all," he said, adding it would only "protect the corrupt".

AAP leader Arvind Kejriwal, meanwhile, said there was no independence for the Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI).

"They are not making CBI independent in this bill. If this happens, even the prime minister may go to jail in 2G or some other scam," he said.

The Lokpal bill, which was passed by the Lok Sabha and greatly amended by a select committee of Rajya Sabha, was tabled for debate in the upper house Friday.

The bill, once passed by the house of elders, will be sent once again to the lower house for approval.

The government has said it is committed to the passage of the bill in this session, which ends Friday.

I am really surprised at certain comments that should not have been published. M.G.Gandhi (Father of the Nation) was a barrister who is responsible for 1947 freedom, Arvind Kejriwal is an IRS officer who was responsible for the RTI. Anna Hazare if ever he has got recognition nationally is because of the likes of Arvind, Kumar Vishwas, Kiran Bedi and many so. Realising that his fasting in Delhi or Mumbai will not succeed, he felt that his hometown is the best place. The crowd is just minuscule. Without any support from Anna, AAP volunteers really worked hard and got 28 seats in Delhi. How can AAP form a government. In fact BJP and Congress have been ruling Delhi for nearly 25 years. Why they both don't want to join hands and form government? It is because they fear having AAP in the opposition.

Both BJP and Congress say that they will give constructive and unconditional support to AAP. Nice to hear that. Congress and BJP have to be very specific with regard to the word "Constructive and Unconditional". The letter by AAP to Congress and BJP is in the right direction. Both BJP and Congress say that they don't want another election, so let them join together and form a government. BJP and Congress plan is to make AAP a foolish political party by saying that we are supporting but have other negative plans. BJP will not do horse trading like they did in Karnataka as they fear AAP and also if it goes for election once again they will be wiped out. So both Congress and BJP are playing safe. Let us wait and watch the reply by BJP and Congress to AAP. AAP has been very vocal in their actions and have been transparent. Let BJP and Congress show the same Transparency. Time to play with words and with people's votes is over.

Congress & BJP these two corrupt political parties thought that only they will rule India and they never thought that people will support a party called AAP. If re elections will be held in Delhi AAP will come out with full majority & corrupt people of BJP & Congress will eat the dust soon. To escape from this they are in a hurry to pass the joke pall bill even without a debate on it. It is BJP responsibility to form the govt in Delhi instead they are running away and blaming AAP. See the Congress in Delhi not talking a single word against the BJP.

Being Indian we know in our dirty politics we have seen hung parliament many times. In such circumstances to form the Govt., need outside support from the other parties. To get the MLA's from the other parties not a free deal
it costs some CRORES due to the corrupt election expenses of MLA seat. In present situation of Delhi elections Cong.& BJP are very generous to offer support to AAP in a free deal. This sudden change of system makes the sunrise in wrong direction! AAP is wise enough to tackle the situation ! Jai Ho AAP
